White fillings

A white filling is a composite restoration matched to your tooth shade. It repairs damage from decay or a fracture and restores the tooth’s shape and function.

Four stages, a clear plan

This is how treatment usually progresses. The stages, timing and cost are tailored after an individual examination.

01

Examination and imaging

We locate the decay or existing filling and assess the tooth.
02

Shade matching

The shade is selected before treatment begins.
03

Removal and restoration

Damaged material is conservatively removed and the restoration built in layers.
04

Shaping and polishing

The bite is checked and the surface polished to a natural finish.

Fillings matched to your tooth shade

We assess the extent of damage and select an appropriate restoration. The aim is to preserve healthy tooth structure where possible and fit the filling to your bite and neighboring teeth. Existing fillings are assessed before replacement, rather than replaced simply because of their age or color.

Suitability is determined at an individual examination. These signs alone are not a diagnosis.

Questions
worth
asking

Dr. Meytal may recommend replacing an amalgam filling with cracks, fractures or recurrent decay. The benefits and drawbacks are explained for your particular situation.

Modern composite materials are durable, but the best restoration depends on the size of the defect and the forces on the tooth. A heavily loaded or weakened tooth may need a different restoration, such as a crown.

Most fillings are completed in one visit.
